Todd Morgan is the principal of Morgan Capitol Consulting, the government affairs consulting firm he founded 14 years ago. Morgan Capitol Consulting represents companies ranging from the Fortune 100 to sole proprietors at legislatures in Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. Their primary focus is on taxation, regulatory compliance and economic/business development. They have also represented a veterans organization and Safe Place on a pro-bono basis.
Todd began his professional career in 1990, working for Railroad Commissioner John Sharp, following him to the Texas State Comptroller’s office in 1991. During his eight years with in the Comptroller’s Office, he served in various executive capacities including: Director of Tax Enforcement; Manager of the Revenue Estimating Division; Director of State-Federal Relations in Washington DC; and Executive director of the Texas Tomorrow Fund.
Prior to founding Morgan Capitol Consulting, Todd spent eight years as Director of State and Local Government Affairs for Temple-Inland Inc, a Fortune 300 company with interests in banking, forestry, manufacturing, real estate development, and minerals. With oversight over Temple-Inland’s state government affairs operations in the southeastern United States and California, he was responsible for formulating and executing comprehensive legislative and regulatory strategies on a wide range of issues.
Todd is a native of Abilene, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas, earning two degrees – a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He lives in Austin with his wife of 25 year, Jennifer His oldest son is a recent graduate of Auburn University and his youngest son is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin and employed full-time by Governor Greg Abbott. He is active in his community, serving as a Board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters International, The Greater Austin Sports Foundation, and Western Hills Little League.
