Student Scholarships

The Houston Association of Professional Landmen student scholarship program was created to recognize graduating high school seniors of current members, and to support qualifying college students enrolled in an AAPL accredited undergraduate program pursuing a career in land management. The student scholarship program provides monetary aid to the selected recipients for their pursuit of higher education.

High School Student Applicant Criteria

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from the greater Houston area with a parent who has been an Active, Life, or Honorary Life member of the HAPL eligible to vote for the last three consecutive years and current on dues. If the parent has been transferred to Houston within the last three years, said parent should be a member of the HAPL for a minimum of six months and provide proof of membership of the local organization from which they were transferred.

Students may only apply if they do not anticipate a full scholarship from a college or university or a full grant from other sources.

Any member of the HAPL who is a familial relative of an applicant may not participate on the Scholarship Committee.

College Student Applicant Criteria

Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an AAPL accredited undergraduate program pursuing a career in land management. The scholarship program is not intended for graduate level students.

Applicant must be a Student Member of HAPL. You can sign up for a free membership here.

College scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of merit; preference will not be given to applicants with a parent who is a member of HAPL.

Students with a full scholarship from a college or university or a full grant from other sources are not eligible to apply. Past recipients of HAPL college scholarships are not eligible to reapply.

Any member of the HAPL who is a familial relative of an applicant may not participate on the Scholarship Committee.
