Dan
Pickering is the Co-President of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Securities, a
47 person Houston-based energy investment and merchant banking firm.
As head of
Securities, Dan has oversight responsibilities for a 30 person team of research
analysts, equity salespeople, and traders involved in providing value-added,
energy-oriented investment ideas to institutional money managers. He also has day-to-day responsibilities for
Tudor Pickering’s research products which include thematic and company-specific
analysis of the oil service, E&P, midstream industries and the energy
“macro”.
Dan and the
TPH team have been frequently recognized for their research excellence,
including recognition by Forbes, Wall Street Journal, StarMine and
Institutional Investor. Dan is frequently quoted in the popular and
financial press and regularly appears on various financial programs such as
CNBC’s Opening Bell and Bloomberg TV.
Prior to
founding Pickering Energy (a predecessor of Tudor, Pickering, Holt), Dan was a
Managing Director and Head of Research of Simmons & Company
International. His initial Wall Street experience was with Fidelity
Investments in Boston, where he was a research analyst
and portfolio Manager for several of Fidelity’s energy sector funds.
Dan’s energy industry experience includes a stint with ARCO Alaska in Anchorage in various engineering and
financial positions. He holds a Petroleum Engineering degree from the University of Missouri – Rolla and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Dan, his wife
and four (yes, four) dogs live in Houston, Texas. When not agonizing over
trends in the oilpatch, Dan is a disappointed Houston Texans football fan, a
novice Texas Hold-Em player, an avid watcher of the annual NCAA basketball
tournament and is addicted to reality TV shows.
