Brookwood is an educational, residential, and entrepreneurial community for adults with functional disabilities.  By providing opportunities, Brookwood expands the horizons of its residents giving lifelong education that enables them to develop meaningful and productive job skills and experience the pride of contributing to their own support, thereby creating a more fulfilling life.

Each year for at least the past five years, the Houston Association of Professional Landmen’s Service Committee has given the residents at the Brookwood Community its own version of “Opening Day” of baseball season by spending the day with the residents playing softball, having them served hotdogs by James Coney Island, and providing various other forms of entertainment.

Our plan is to start setting up around 9:30 a.m. and play baseball till 11:30, then break for lunch and entertainment.  The event usually wraps up around 1:30 or 2:00 in the afternoon.
