For the second time and the first time since 2019, the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) has partnered with The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (formerly the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation) to together offer a course focused on advanced and more in-depth presentations on issues critical to the work of landmen for the modern development of energy and minerals. This course recognizes that the most successful landmen master more than land title and basic land contracts—they must have a good working knowledge of complex legal and contractual provisions and regulatory issues affecting development and keep abreast of market trends and current deal structures.

This course—with presentations ranging from oil and gas acquisition and divestiture transactions to issues when acquiring aging assets, joint operations, the relationship between operators and nonoperators, adverse possession, drafting and negotiating instruments to acquire pore space for CCUS, conflicts between mineral and renewable development, venting and flaring challenges, ethics, and more—will benefit both landmen and energy and mineral attorneys, and provide up to 10 AAPL and CLE credits (for 60-minute states), including 1 hour of ethics credit. Most presentations will be accompanied by in-depth papers to serve as a continuing reference, and all registrants will receive a complimentary copy of the Landman’s Legal Handbook.
